No, it would destroy the whole planet no matter where you are. Our sun is so powerful that if it was just 5% hotter all the plant life would burn. If it was 10% hotter we'd burn too. At 15% the earth would turn to molten rock. Even if you were underground when the sun was 5% hotter, the surface would be so hot the heat would make the rock hot and you would bake in an oven.

You need to catch up with the person that asked could you survive under water if the entire earth was on fire! I am just wondering what the hell would you eat when the food ran out, each other? Or would humanity actually procreate to have a constant food supply? For example the people running things ,allowed females to survive only to their 16th birtday and after they had produced at least 2 off spring. Then they would become part of the food chain, and that would apply to males also.
Only healthy child bareing couples could live to 16, anyone else would automatically become part of the food chain!
Every few years sciencetist would run test to determine if the earths fires had burned out, or if the sun had gone back into it's proper alignment in the sky ha-ha-ha-ha-!!! Where do you get these ideas! Fot that part, where do I get Mine-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

The problem with going down into mines to escape heat is that the lower you go, the hotter it gets. Gold mines in South Africa that go well over a mile straight down can reach temperatures of over 130F (55C). So you'd be jumping out of the frying pan and down into a fire.
As a thought problem, the question of safety is something we all think about, but I'd really spend my time worrying about my grades in school rather than about the sun getting closer. ;^)

don't forget that the deeper you go into the earth to escape the "enclosing sun" the higher the temperature gets as well

NOT FOR LONG THE TEMPERATURE ON THE FACE OF MERCURY THAT ALWAYS FACES THE SUN IS 3000 DEGREES AND THE OPPOSITE SIDE IS NEAR ABSOLUTE ZERO SO AT 3000 DEGREES IT WOULD NOT TAKE LONGTO COOK YOU REGARDLESS OF HOW DEEP YOU WENT.

that will happen after thousands of millions of years.and, that process is a continuum, so when that happens , all the plans and animals would be burned to death, so there is no place to hide
