Laser is MUCH cheaper overall.
Get yourself a small dekstop laser colour printer and the cost is usually around 15c / page.

laser printer ink can be cheaper sometimes and other times is more expensive. You could try turning down the levle of ink you use to print out these items. They will be lighter in color but if you only turn it down a bit it will still look ok. Another option would be to buy directly form the manufacture in bulk, which would deffiantly save you money.

Most firms mainly use laser for mono or colour printing as the toners are much more cheaper and the cost per print is low.
A laser printer cost more on the average but in the long run it saves on downtime and refill replacement.
If you go around big firms you would notice that most of them are using HP laserjets as it is very reliable.
Go check out the HP web sites for promo.some times you would be able to get quiet a good deal from them.
Just my 2 cents worth, hopes it helps.

i have an epson cx3500 and it does use ink pretty fast. my boss prints like crazy. ty to see if there is a way to keep things electronic until absolutly the end product. laser printers can be more expencive, but you can get your ink refilled at local drugstores now. its cheaper to do that and they reuse the cartride, so you dont pay for that every time. its better to refill the ink anyway as long as its good ink. good luck and dont ever get an HP printer, they are bad.

When we have need to print large numbers of a document, brochure, etc., we take the file on disk to Kinkos. If you compare their price with the cost of maintaining your printer, ink, speed, collating, stapling, folding, ... you may find it to your advantage to have it done there. As for turn-around time, it usually takes us a day or so. The main cost is in the salary of the person who sets up the file, not in the copying.

Hewlett Packard did a study and they have an inkjet that is supposed to be the cheapest per page to operate, including laser printers. I don't remember the model number, but you could find it on their website.

That won't stop all the spending. Every year the government spends more money than the year before. Our national debt has actually gone down 58% in the last 3 years, but I see no reductions in spending. I know the tax breaks helped the economy, but what do we have to do to get congress to stop all the spending?? To tell the truth, I just don't think changing to coin dollars will do much to save money. Every time it's tried people hate them. There was the Susan B. Anthony dollar coin, and years later the gold plated one with an Indian on it. No one likes them, and I'm in agreement. I prefer paper. Besides, don't coins get replaced all the time too? Seems like they would cost more to replace than paper, but I don't know for sure.

Our local drug store refills printer cartridges. We have been able to do it 4 times so far and the quality of the prints have not degraded. The cost is half to one third of what it would be if we bought them new.
The only other thing I can suggest is to have fewer print outs.
