How much milage do you lose if you keep it in 4th instead of fifth in a 2.2 4 cylinder?

Fifth gear keeps poping out of gear, i think its the syncro, so as far as i know as long as i dont go into fifth its not hurting the trans. What kind pof gass hit will i get from fifth to fourth?

It would be a big help to know what kind of car and the name of the engine. It sounds like you have a GM 2200 4cyl. or the new ecotec 4cyl. there should be a decent drop in gas miliage. but like everyone else, i wonder why you wouldnt shift to 5th in the first place....it there

Do a gas mileage test for one month taking an average of 2 fill up readings driving both ways, one at a time.

too many factors to give you a specific number, but on a motor like that, you need to shift to 5th gear at approx.
45-50mph. There's really not many reasons not to.
