I want to know whos running, which party they're in, and what they promise to do if they become elected.

I'll get you started. Socialism is the exact opposite of freedom, so steer clear of democrats. Also, individual freedom is inversely proportional to the size and scope of government, so steer clear of neo (or fake) conservatives. That leaves you with Mike Huckabee, Tom Tancredo, and Ron Paul.
If you're a beginner, then just worry about these three and pick the one you like the best.
