He is vetoing the childrens health insurance bill because he says it will be helping people who can afford to buy their own insurance which i agree with but then he turns around and promises millions of dollars in aid to people in California whos home was worth anywhere between 500,000 to ten plus million and more with rolls royces and porsches parked in their driveway who obviously dont need financial help now isnt this a flip flop?

Republicans are set to lose big in the next election. George Bush is just trying to get a few more votes for Der Party.

It doesn't mean that it is wrong, it just means that sometimes Republicans have to pretend to support American values, if only for political purposes. Just because they are doing it for the wrong reason, doesn't mean that it is not the right thing to do.

Poor Bush is danged if he does and danged if he doesn't.

He didn't help the Katrina victims fast enough, long enough.
He helped the California fire victims too much, too soon.
Does anyone else besides me see how childish and whiny this sounds?

Here's a thought for you on the Cali fires:

The environmentalists who will not allow controlled burns and other forest managment practices for fear that some ground squirrel or other microscopic species might lose a piece of scrub brush to live under are at least partly to blame for the wildfires.

The greedy developers and foolish people who choose to build mansions next door to a tinder box are partly to blame.

The criminals who torch them on purpose are partly to blame.

It's not a result of global warming, and it's not Bush's fault, nor is it wrong of him to try and help the victims.

People shouldn't have kids they can't afford to take to the doctor. Period. Employers expected to pay benefits such as health insurance, pensions, etc. are also what is partly causing all the jobs to go overseas and the immigration problems (oh and the illegal immigrants who get FREE health care and aren't even citizens drive up the health care costs which is partly why insurance is so high!)

The government is not supposed to be our Santa Claus sugar daddy. This country is supposed to be a land of OPPORTUNITY--that means folks are to get out there and work hard to earn what they need and help others if they can, not sit back and expect the government to take care of them.

Children's health insurance has nothing to do with the fires in California. Apparently you have jumped on the bandwagon to make everything political. Are you aware that Mr. Bush reacted the same way with the same speed to help the people in New Orleans? The only difference is that the governor of Louisiana chose not to immediately take him up on his offer of help while the governor of California did. Please don't fall into the democrats' trap of finding some way to denigrate Pres. Bush. Expand your news sources and get all the news, with both side of the issue. WOW, you are kidding, right. You are comparing apples and oranges. These people probable have insurances but if they lost everything you think it is OK not to help them because the may be rich. Peace

I feel better about helping Californians than I do sending billions of U.S. taxdollars to the Zionist murderers in Israel every year. I am quite surprised that Bush (a hardcore Zionist) would be willing to do ANYTHING to help Americans.

California has a Republican Governor -- Louisiana a Democratic Governor
Southern California votes heavily Republican -- New Orleans voted heavily Democratic.

Does that give anyone a clue?

It's not aid to the rich people. They need to pay government employees with it. Counties and municipalities asked for the aid to pay the fireman, the airplanes fighting the fire, and clean up crews.

He promised all sorts of aid to the victims of Hurricane Katrina too, and they haven't seen that aid yet. Sorta suggests how far we should trust Republican promises, eh?

Sure he is helping rich people who lost their homes due to fire. FEMA is on the way. Funny how it didn't work out this way for the poor people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

Well he is catering to his base, unlike the poor victims of Katrina.
