What is Female circumcision?
There are about 3 different types of it and they could be many more, here are the 3 main ones I know about
- Sunna circumcision, This involves the removal of the tip of the clitoris and/or its hood or covering (prepuce).
- Clitorectomy circumcision, This is the removal of the entire clitoris and the adjacent labia (the external and internal folds of skin, or lips, that protect the vaginal opening).
- Infibulation circumcision, This procedure involves performing a clitorectomy, including the removal of the labia. The tissues are then sewn together, leaving only a small hole for the flow of urine and menstrual blood. In many cases, a second procedure is necessary later to allow for sexual intercourse.

Short Term health effects - It has gone underground, at times with people who have had no medical training performing the cutting without anesthetic, sterilization, or the use of proper medical instruments. When performed without any anesthetic, can lead to death through shock from immense pain or excessive bleeding. The failure to use sterile medical instruments may lead to infections.

Long term health effects - urinary and reproductive tract infections, caused by obstructed flow of urine and menstrual blood, various forms of scarring and infertility. The first time having sexual intercourse will often be extremely painful, and infibulated women will need the labia major to be opened, to allow their husband access to the vagina. This second cut, sometimes performed by the husband with a knife, can cause other complications to arise. They will never achieve an orgasm.

These effects are basically the same in male circumcision; new borns are very really given an anesthetic for male circumcision. 1000's of boy's each year die from it.

- Is it legal?
In the US, no the same in lots of other country’s but it is done in about 20 other country’s these countries include: Iraq, Africa, Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and many more.

Was she circumcised?
Well if she grew up in the US then it will be no, but if you see a cut mark then she properly has.

I doubt it. It's not very common to remove the clitoral prepuce. Which culture is she from? In some they do remove the prepuce (skin covering the clit) rather than the whole clit so I guess it could be possible if she's from Africa or somewhere. Or maybe you're just looking at it wrong.

If she has a clit, then she wasn't circumsied. In female circumcision, the clit is completely cut off. FGM (female genetal mutilation) MUST be stopped. It is a barbaric practice that some cultures still do.
