I live next to a field and for the first time in 16 years of being here...a mouse got it. It's living in a wardrobe upstairs and all the traps I have set, so far, haven't gone off. I used chocolate to bait them and it's been feasting on it withouth it going off. I bought a new better advanced trap, BOUND to go off when it tries to get the chocolate...but it's been over a day and it's not been near it. I'm wondering if it's dead, because it's been up scratching every other night in there. Can alot of chocolate kill a field mouse?

Chocolate is not toxic to mice. Naturally, a diet of chocolate exclusively. over a long period of time would have about the same effect on the mouse as it would on you. It's unlikely that the mouse has eaten only chocolate, so it's unlikely that the mouse has died of "chocolate overdose". There may be many reasons why the mouse is quiet. Perhaps it has moved on, found a mate, or has died of other causes.
Count your blessings on that score and be aware of any particularly malodorous odors that might suggest a mousy carcass somewhere in your wardrobe.

Lots of chocolate not likely to kill mouse. Since your mouse has sensed the appoach of autumn it may have just been collecting food for the winter. Usually, depending on how much food it has kept in the hole, you may not see it again for a few days, even weeks. If it were making making babies like someone said then it would more likely be active, having more mouths to feed, not inactive. It ain't human! Again your mouse may've just died of old age, not cholcolate. It is general knowledge though that mice come indoors in autumn

I don't think chocolate can kill the mouse. It's probably having babies now so it hasn't been active.

sure it can. The sugar makes their heart race so alot of chocolate could have killed him.

TOO Much is precisely the amount that will kill anything.
