Yes ... and don't listen to the fools here who say you can't.

Theoretically no. Technically yes.

On a perfect 28 day cycle (which no one I have ever met acutally has.. this is just illustration.. this calender method is NOT a reliable method of birth control)

Day 1 is the first day of your period.

You ovulate and are fertile on days 14 and 15.

Sperm lives for 72 hours, so you can get preg from having sex on days 11-15.

However, no one has a perfect cycle. Anything can throw off when you ovulate and when your period is from emotions to stress to diet to physical activity to medications. So technically, your cycle could easily get screwed one month and for some reason you ovulate during your period, or a day or too after, but since that sperm lasts for 3 days, sex during and at the end of the period could lead to preg.

That's one of the many myths that teenagers (and some adults) believe about pregnancy. YES you can get pregnant while on your period, there is no safe day. There are some days where you're not as likely to get pregnant, but those vary from person to person. And for Delilahh...had you listened to YOUR biology teacher or at least had one who knew what they were talking about you'd know that its not nearly as rare as people think. Its not as common simply because most people don't have sex during their period.

YES!

also, i need to comment about pjchl's comment above... it IS possible for a woman's cycle to ovulate while menstruating. A healthy, typical cycle ovulates about 14 days before menstruation but cycles tend to wreak havoc at times due to diet, stress, and crazy hormones (especially in young women!) so no, it is not ignorant to answer that YES it is possible to conceive while you have your period! It IS ignorant to believe that having sex during your period is a form of birth control!

yes, you can get pregnant at anytime. A period occurs when a fertilized egg hasn't become embedded in the lining of your uterus, so basically the egg is still there ready to be fertilized.

YES you CAN. You can pregnant even if you haven't gotten your period yet, if it just ended or any other time.
Hope this helped.

no.... when you are on your period, you are not ovulating. that is, if you have normal cycles.

i took this from Johnson & Johnson's baby website:

It's possible — but highly unlikely. You'd have to have a very short menstrual cycle, which is the time from the first day of one period to the first day of the next period, or a tendency to have long periods. This would bring the time of ovulation closer to the time when you would start bleeding.

Yes. It's not as likely as other times of your cycle, but there is no 'safe' time of month.

It's extremely rare. And the egg is dead by the time you have your period anyway. It goes out a day before your mensus.
