Pretend you're in this scenario:

You have recently bought something (clothing item for a friend) from ebay, and it has arrived very quickly. You're pleased with that. The only problem is that it smells of cigarette smoke, and you hate the smell of cigarettes. You decide to keep the item anyway, and just leave feedback for the seller. Do you leave a negative, neutral, or positive feedback?

Did the seller deliver you what the promised they would?

Was the delivery quick and the transaction smooth?

If these are answered yes, then leave a positive feedback. Don't damage someone else's reputation on ebay because of your pet peeves.

Wash the garment (or have it cleaned) and be thankful you aren't among those that have paid for something and received nothing.

Cigarette Ebay

Positive ~ Unless it states that it's from a smoke free home then you really have no reason to give them a negative or neutral rating, I once got an antique stuffed elephant and it had a horrible smell of mildew, I still left a positive because it was shipped fast and described perfectly and once cleaned it was very nice. So since this is clothing, the smell will come out. Might want to consider sending the seller an email stating that while happy with your purchase, the cigarette odor was overwhelming and it may be something they should consider in the future and that it should be stated on their page.

It depends. Did the seller tell you it was from a smoke free home? When I list my items on ebay it states smoke free home. But I do have a cat so I list that also. If it didn't say and you didn't ask leave positive feedback for the seller and contact them to let them know you are disappointed with the smoke smell.

well did the seller state "smoke free home"? if not then ask to exchange the same item for a smoke free one. if nothing else works then ask for a refund. if that dont work leave a neutral feedback. communication is the key. if you keep it soak it in tide w/ bleach overnight then wash.

You leave positive feedback. You received the item, it was as described, There was no mention of being from a smoke free place. The seller completed their end of the transaction as promised. Just because you don't like the smell of cigarettes isn't a good reason to mess with a person's reputation. Just use some fabreeze to remove the smell.

Unless the item specifically stated in the eBay ad that it was from a smoke free home, and was in "Brand New" - Unused and Unopened-untouched condition - you have to be happy with their quick service and give them a ++ positive feedback.

They sent you the item quickly, and as stated in their ad as promised, and that is good enough for a + feedback.

I would leave positive, you got the item, it was quick, the transaction went smooth.
I would also email the seller privately and tell her what you feel, and ask that she make note in her site that items do come from a smoker's home, and people with allergies should be aware before purchasing.

Negative, when it comes to cigarette smell on eBay, the seller should have the courtesy to say so. Also next time look for "Comes from a smoke free household" in the item description, good sellers will add that.

As a former smoker I can tell ya: they don't realize that it smells cause they can't smell it themselves. Their sense of smell is damaged and they would not notice that particular odor anyway since they smell it all the time.

I'm not very familiar with ebay but if you can let them know privately, they might be able to have items cleaned right before shipping.
