Thanks for a great question.
We're going to be greeted with unimaginable (and understandable) resentment. Many Americans (especially the extreme right) are unaware of the fact that we've been there once already. It was a covert opearation called Operation Ajax. We destroyed their new fragile democracy so we could continue to rape their country of its oil (along with British Petrolium). If anyone ever wonders why they took the hostages or why they feel the need to arm and defend themselves, please eductae yourselves. Knowing why and learning from our past mistakes is NOT a sign of weakness.

The regime we toppled in 1953 was being led by a Swiss educated pro western man named Mossadegh. He was a wonderful man but he was also not going to let Iran be raped for its oil. We saw an opportunity to back the corrupt Shah and we decided to force him back into power so that we can keep our hand in the cookie jar.
Here's that story:

If we attack Iran pre emptively they may cower as the mighty forces of the world's top air and ground weaponry destroy their lives, and our "deciders" will no doubt high five each other and announce mission accomplished, but for decades, we, the American people, will pay for this incredible mistake. We'll pay with our safety and we'll pay when we will least expect it. Is it terrible? Yes. Do we leave them an alternative? No.

Oh and to the genius who said roses don't grow well In Iran... I'm an avid gardner and not only is Iran one of the largest ornamental flower producers of the world, but Iranian roses are world renowned (please click on link), but of course the extreme right thinks that Iran is one big desert and that all of the middle east is filled with arabs and sand. They're in for quite an awakening:

Sure, petals at our feet but the rest our body will be entangled in a thorny mess...

As per Neil Y. --

Love is a rose but you better not pick it
It only grows when it's on the vine.
Handful of thorns and you know you've missed it,
You lose your love when you say the word "mine"

No. The US military isn't going there on the ground. Now if you want to go as my representative you have my blessing. But I'm not paying for your ticket. Next question.
