I didn't finish college......I have a lovely 3 bedroom house with all the mod cons, I enjoy going out with my friends (a lot), I am getting married in April and have just booked Sandals in Jamaica for my honeymoon....I don't see how finishing college would have made me any happier.

Yes, many of us make it pretty well despite the absence of a college degree. I will admit that it is much harder to land one of the better jobs because the competition will often include college graduates as applicants. Some employers recognize that work experience and intelligence can often compensate for or even be more beneficial than a degree. There are a lot of educated idiots in this world. I'm glad many people are beginning to realize that a college degree doesn't make you smart.

First you have to realize that there are people from all walks of life. You have people who do not need to go to college because they are independently wealthy. I met many of these people while I was in college and they were just there because it was "something to do." Getting a college degree from a certain school is a status thing for people in high society. Some people go to college to further their knowledge in a subject. The problem in America today is that college has become a wrung in the corporate ladder, a necessary step to gain access to certain kinds of jobs. Without a BA many comfortable jobs remain out of reach to the masses. There are plenty of jobs available to people who do not go to college. A great example being a landscaping artist. If you get into a field like that where barriers of entry are low, the pay off is very high per project. You just trade off the security of consistent work.

Even people who finish college worry about stuff. I have a medical assistant degree....but I don't even use it. I am 23 and have worked up in a company to managerial status and make decent money, have good benefits, etc. This job has nothing to do with the medical field either. It is all about your work ethic and who you know. Make connections and show that you are a team player and you will go far.

I never got a degree, even though I had more credits than required. It doesn't have a big impact generally after the first few years, but it is a pain if a job requires a degree and doesn't allow for equivalent experience.
As a side note, I didn't realize I hadn't graduated - don't ask, long story - and it was 15 years before anyone checked to see if I had a degree.

Yes they do some how make it in the world. But don't get confused, even people with college degrees, even those with Ph.D. degrees have money problems. So getting a college degree will not protect you from having money problems.

I'm not sure who told you that information, but there are plenty of people who make it who have not step foot inside a college institution. Some living better than those with degrees. There are plenty of careers where all you need is experience. A degree doesn't mean you are better or smarter or you will make more money.

I failed out of college, but im running my own business now. and i plan on never getting a job if i can help it. but i do need to teach myself. reading is great for this. also i love some of the google videos have college classes and you can watch them all and learn from the hole class not just one lecture. but ya you cant stop learning! thats the important thing. in college they tell you what to learn. but i choise what i need to learn now.
ya no money problems? who has no money problems? if your rich you have to invest your money or it gets taxed away. i dont see anything that could free me from money problems. i starved more in college then at any other time. if i had money problems id say it was when i was in college...

Yes...we make it.
If a college degree meant money, do youthink there would be so many poor teachers out there, struggling to make ends meet? For that matter, do you think there would be any teachers left in our greedy world, as so many would go on to do more lucrative things.
