If the NYT was truly with our troops this should have made page 1 above the fold. He was local, from L.I.. I'm independent in my voting and against the war so there is no agenda. I "WAS" a Times reader...no more.

The NYT is a very useful publication. I ran out of TP yesterday and it worked well as a substitute. The quality of the content remained unchanged.

First of all, it's not up to the New York Times to be "with the troops."

Second, how many Medals of Honor were handed out? Was it several? Or just one? If it's more than one, and it happens frequently, then it is not a huge news story. The top of the local section seems like a good place for it in this case. (Note: it's obviously a front page story in Des Moines, or Elmira, but the Times has more of a national audience.)

The New York Times is largely regarded as a "liberal" publication, and seldom will do anything that 'glorifies' war, or those that participate in such.

However, if a correspondent chips a nail while reporting the war, the Times will celebrate her "courage" for being in a combat zone in the first place.
