I'm sure the answer is in your book. But if it's like mine its not very clear so you may want to check this site out, its a power point show and go to page/ slide 8. You'll have to keep hitting the down arrow to bring up the next section on each slide so you'll be hitting it more than once.

Functional conflict solves problems and is a conflict over an actual problem not make believe. Dysfunctional conflict is conflict that does not solve anything and over things that doesn't really impair and make anything bad. Note: Female friends who like to pick on petty stuff and create fights usually don't like you and if they also gossip and talk + have fixation on you , they are jealous

Functional conflict is where conflict is resolved in the end, without the use of verbal abuse, intimidation, threatening, put downs, etc., in other words fair fighting. Dysfunctional conflict is all about unfairness, power and control.

Dysfunctional conflict is not productive and nothing is gained from it. Functional conflict is one way that things get improved after the conflict is resolved.

one works all the time and the other works none of the time.

think of it like shopping for shoes, if you go with your mate, you know you are likely to get something, even with a little discussion (functional), if you go with your other half (dysfunctional), you will never end up with any let alone a pair!! lol :O)
