the ones for superstores where you have to sing and dance. Yeah like you'll really do that in the shops for customers.

i don't know if this qualifies as an answer to your question, at least not directly but this is the tail (yes tail, not tale) of my worst job interview ever and the reason i got internet access on my cell phone.

i was interviewing for a secratarial position at a non-profit company exactly 19 miles from my house (a requirement of the job was to live no more than 20 miles). i got lost. it was in a part of town i had never been to but when i spoke with someone there, they made it sound easy. i would have called them, but i forgot to write down the number from the email they sent me. i had to call my house (this is about 7:30am) to try to get someone to log into my account to get the number. after about 5 tries, my dad finally picked up the phone and gave me the number.

so, i called them and arrived exactly 21 minutes late for the interview. the interviewer was kind though and directed me to where i would be taking my tests (excel spreadsheet and mail merging were the test subjects). the excel test i took in 5 minutes, easy as pie. i never did a mail merge until that day. so needless to say i took up the entire 30 minutes alloted plus 15.

as i'm finishing up the interview, a CAT!!! jumps on my lap. i cringe in complete horror. i am allergic and immediately begin to feel sick. the interviewer apologizes and removes the cat. (a cat for christ sake in a professional office!) i can't breathe for the rest of the interview.

after the tests the interviewer says, i'm only going to ask you three questions. (uh, ok). and i must answer with the most extreme detail. they are 1. what is the most difficult thing you've had to learn on a job? (i think, just now, learning how to mail merge, of course that is not the right answer) 2. name some difficulty you had to overcome in the office and succeeded in doing alone (uh, mail merging? and operating the automatic stapler). 3. what was a solution you came up with to help other office workers overcome a common problem (uh . . . you ARE only offering to pay me $9 an hour.)

needless to say i didn't get the job. i got a better one paying $14 and i don't have to mail merge anything!

No matter how much I think I am, I am NEVER prepared. They'll ask questions and I get put on the spot and actually have to pause before I give an answer. Thankfully, I landed the last job I interviewed for 5 years ago and they haven't gotten rid of me yet.

When you have to lie your as* off about everything and make out your interested in what the company do when really you just want the money and they come up with daft assed questions that always stump you. im looking for a job at the moment and am crapping having to go through all this the lady at the job centre the other day said ill have to cut my hair and take out my piercings what a crock of sh*t but i need money for xmas.

When the person interviewing you is way younger and they are looking at you like "why are you here"???? They have an earring in their eyebrow and as soon as you make eye contact you know you just wasted the gas it took you to get to the interview.

i had a job interview yesterday

it didnt go well

but im glad i didnt get the job, they guy was a total wxxxxr, i answered all his questions and everytime i stopped speaking he just stared at me waiting for me to say more. and on my defense i was answering them adequately enough, the woman who was also sitting in, didnt give me a great vibe from word go, and im very presentable

but i hate it when they ask why you want to be with their company, why do they think?
because your companys got a job going obviously, id actually never heard of this company before i went along yesterday, so prob shudve done more research, but oh well

and also they ask you why you want to do the job in the first place, is it because money? achievements? spiritual growth? benefits?

ive yet to meet anyone whos not going for a job because of money, why cant we just admit that to them, they know it themselves, of course if uve the same job and one salary is higher, which one u gonna go for?

(voluntary work obviously doesnt count!)

I hate it when they ask you to describe the worst thing about yourself ! Do these people really think that you are going to tell them you don't put the cap back on the toothpaste, blast music that they can dance to it in the next state and lied to a friend about how nice her hair color tuned out when you could really stick her on the shore so the passing boats at night could get to shore safely ?

That they expect you to answer the same generic questions with the same generic answers. That most people interviewing have some kind of god complex. It is just a very unpleasant experience.

Oh let me tell you ... These applicants show up in flip flops, t-shirts, and shorts. And too often they have multiple piercings, exposed tattoos, freak hair, etc .... HOW on Earth to they think they are going to get a job offer like this? Isn't this stuff taught in school anymore? Where are the parents? It is SO FRUSTRATING.

When they ask you stupid questions like "tell me three things about yourself that are positive" "where do you see yourself in 10 years" Wow, if I could read the future, I wouldn't be getting a job! Plus, this lame douche probably wont even be at this company in 2 years.
