I think if u know they CAN'T afford it the bride should pay for it or at least offer to... However if they are perfectly capable of paying for it then yes they should...

The bride can always offer to pay, but normally the bridesmaids pay for their own dresses, shoes, make-up and hair. I would suggest sitting down with each bridesmaid you choose and make sure they understand that they are to pay for their own things so there are no confusions later on. If any of them anticipate financial issues, you can decide then how you want to handle it.

Usually the bridesmaids pay for their own dresses. I've heard of the bride paying occasionally, but it is expected that the bridesmaids will pay.

Typically the bridesmaid pays for her own dress, shoes, hair, maekup and chips in for the shower. The bride usually buys a small token of appreciation for her bridesmaids.

I think if the dresses that the bride picks are ugly, the bride should pay!

I have NEVER understood why the bridesmaids should pay for some ugly azz dress she didn't even pick out!

My opinion.

I believe that depends on the economics of the people involved.
Traditionally, the bride's family would pay for them. But now adays the attendants pay for their own dresses. Unless of course the bride or bride's family is wealthy and footing the bill.
