1. My armor - made of steel chainmail and thick aircraft aluminum plates, it is designed for SCA rattan combat - no zombie has a chance of damaging it at all. I fight in it on a regular basis, and am used to strenuous exercise in it for extended periods. (see my 360 blog photos)
2. Longsword. All of my blades are tempered stainless steel with full tang construction, and can easily decapitate decaying zombies. Axes, knives, and hatchets are not good decapitation tools as they have a very small striking surface, and do not have enough inertial mass to sever a neck cleanly on one strike. A double-bitted felling axe might do it, but all the weight is in the head, making it a weapon with a slow recovery time and one that will put you way off-balance if you miss. A well-balanced sword is a better option as you can easily recover and return to en garde from a miss.
3. 50' rope and grappling hook. If you can get out of their reach they can't damage you at all.

Good luck taking down a zombie hoard with a multi-tool! You need a shotgun and plenty of ammo and thick leather clothing that cant be bitten through would also be a good start.

3 "red-shirts" from the original Star Trek.

Let's call them Ensign Vicky, Crewman Bob, and Chief Riley. Bob and Riley have been best friends since grade school, but are just now starting to develop a rivalry over Vicky, their new commanding officer. Vicky is over eager to impress her new superiors, having only recently graduated from the Academy, and fails to see the chaos in her ranks due to Bob and Riley's petty squabbles over her affection.

Why? Because everyone knows the "red-shirts" are just there to die while the lead characters get away. And the back story just makes it more tragic when Vicky gets killed by the zombies and becomes one of the undead. How will Bob and Riley react? Will they kill her? Or be killed by her? Doesn't really matter because they're red-shirts, so we know they're dead.

But I got away!
