I am a student a CCHS n i have n english project on Edgar Allan Poe. I went to plenty of web sites to look for my answers but every site has like a different answer. Or they say it is a mystery. so yeah

His actual cause of death is a mystery... people have made assumptions basied off of his lifestyle and his mental state, but none of those are actual medical records saying that is his cause of death which is why you are getting so many different answers

Well, then that's how you write the paper.
Your teacher knows there are different theories. She wants you to either take a stand, pick the theory you believe, and argue your case and convince people you have the right answer, or...
Write about the different theories and the conflicting evidence that either supports or contradicts those theories and why we may never know exactly..
That will be much more interesting than some copied-straight-from-an-encyclopedia account of his death.

Acording to wikipedia:
On October 3, 1849, Poe was found on the streets of Baltimore delirious and "in great distress, and... in need of immediate assistance," according to the friend who found him, Dr. John E. Snodgrass. He was taken to the Washington College Hospital, where he died early on the morning of October 7.
The precise cause of Poe's death remains a mystery.

One MD recently reported that the symptoms were similar to rabies. All we know for sure is he died too young.
