The should be developing but they are not. Until 1982 Lebanon was developing on a parallel path with Turkey. Since then they have suffered from civil war, occupation and political unrest, and their GDP per capita unchanged while Turkey's has nearly doubled.

i would say Lebanon is a second world country... It is not dirt poor like other countries, there are some wealthy areas.

Third World. Arab mostly.
Why? Genetics and culture (two sides of the same bloody coin). Lebanese people live in many European and North American countries...and when they are present in significant numbers they replicate the ways of the cesspool that is their ancestral homeland.
I don't care how politically incorrect that is to state. I don't hate them, but don't want them living in Western nations.
The best thing they could do for themselves is reconsolidate from around the world back into their homeland and fight Israel if they must.

Lebanon used to be considered a hive of tourism now its terrorism, does that help.
