nope...not permantley. It will remove the adult fleas, but leave the eggs and larva, so you'll still have the problem. You should get a professional exterminator out there and then clean the carpets.
Oh and the powders actually cause your carpet fibers to break down...don't use them ;)

What will kill adult fleas is steam. A rug doctor wont cut it. You can hire a pro to come in do it probably for a bit more than renting a rug doctor and all the carpet cleaner you have to buy. It kills the adult fleas and makes encourages the eggs to hatch :( that means you still may have a flea prob after wards.
We were having a flea problem a few weeks ago and I tried everything short of bombing the house. What worked the best was vaccuming ALOT! I moved EVERYTHING and vaccumed. I heard that the vibrations encourage the eggs to hatch and then you can vaccum up the baby fleas too... I did this twice a day for about 2 weeks.
There is this stuff you can buy called Diatomaceous Earth. Its not toxic. But it will kill flea eggs AND adult fleas. I didnt use it myself because I have a young child and for what I am about to tell you... its some kind of algae that are like razor blades. It kills the eggs by cutting them open. The powder is so fine that fleas actually breath it in and it cuts them up from the inside out and if for some reason they dont, it wears off their hard shells and kills them. This is the ONLY thing that will kill eggs too. You will need to wear a mask when you are putting this down in your house or outside and take out any animals and of course children that you have. Also for an effective flea control program, you HAVE to treat the outside of your house before the inside or they will just keep coming in. If you live in the United States you can go to any local Ace Hardware and get this stuff called Sevin Dust. I went to Ace to get the industrial strength stuff ;) Walmart sells 5% dust and industrial is 10%. Anyways this is the best thing that I have found to kill all kinds of yard pests (and fleas)... good luck!

When I moved into our *new house the previous owners had an untreated dog/cat so when the house was vacant for a couple weeks there were hungry fleas everywhere.. It was terrible.. Anyway, I bought 12 lbs. of baking soda and 3 lb. box of salt and mixed together and sprinkled the carpets I think it cost around $10 I let it sit overnight and vacuumed like mad for the next few days.. The baking soda smothers them and the salt breaks open the eggs.. PLUS the baking soda gets rid of any odors and the salt picks up any loose dirt/dust etc..So, it got rid of dog/cigarette odors as well.. Also, put a couple of flea collars inside your vacuum bag/canister to kill any live fleas...I treated out dog a couple days AFTER we brought her to the house and we've had no problem ever since ! good luck

No, it won't work. It won't kill the eggs so you will have a constant problem. Only thing that will work is to use a chemical bomb. Leave the residue on the carpet for a few days (maybe even a week) then carpet clean. You will also have to clean your ENTIRE house. It's a nasty problem.
FYI...I have used Frontline on my cats and have never had the problem again. Good luck.

How long has the dog had the Frontline on? My dog gets fleas every year, and it never gets out of hand. The adults die, and never get a chance to lay eggs. Talk to your vet.
