We broke the atom... now it's quarks, will this ever end? or would we keep on breaking the constituents.

Particle physicists have long been searching for a truly "elementary" (or "fundamental") particle, meaning one that cannot be subdivided further. The quarks are believed to be among these particles, along with leptons and bosons, and scientists are no longer actively trying to split them. They continue to study the particles, their properties, and their interactions.
