i am guessing you aren't so accomidating to those outside of your religion, like muslims for instance....its clear you are a Christian and you are defending your own. that means you support those that do not support the troops. shame on you.

i keep seeing the excuses roll in. wheres the blanket condemnation for those that dishonor the troops in such a way cons?

The Westboro Baptist Church has a long history of inflammatory and spiteful behavior towards anyone who does not adhere to their deranged worldview (and does not engage in incestual relationships since the Church is a "family affair.").

Not only did they picket the funerals of fallen soldiers, they also crashed the memorial service for the Sago Mine disaster in West Virginia and Matthew Shepard's funeral (gay college student beaten to death) in Wyoming.

Their extremist and racist views would have made Hitler proud.

Edit: Don't expect a blanket condemnation of this group from the "moral majority." Yet, this is the same brood that repeatedly calls upon moderate Muslims to publicly apologize for the actions of radical extremists that commit atrocities in the name of their faith. This is just another typical double-standard on the part of far-rightists.

Wow, this is amazing how many republicans are defending their actions. If this group claimed to be a Liberal group, the republicans would be all over them saying that all liberals are like this, and that it makes them sick blah, blah,…. I can't believe some of you people. As a Liberal democrat, I am starting an organization that will help our disabled veterans obtain employment when then return home. Republicans who claim to support the troops, what are you doing? What a bunch of hypocrites!!

Earnest T is glad to be aligned with Fred Phelps! Can you tell by his posts!

Edit: I really find it funny how people who claim to be Christian will put down other religions, but when someone like Fred Phelps protests a funeral of a war hero. It's ok he is christian, so I'll defend him no matter what!

I also enjoy how they try to push the FPC or Fred Phelps Crew as a liberal organization. That is the best part!

Fundamentalist " Christian" crazies pose yet another threat to the future of the Republic. They tend to overlook how the Constitution does not mention Jesus. The ones who really scare me are the Pat Robertson Domionists. Remember Pat Robertson supports political assassinations. Wouldn't it be fun to live in a Theocratic dictatorship run by " Jebus" fanatics.

This is sick, sad, and those people should crawl back in the hole they came from.

I also find it funny that the right calls us names all day, and as soon as we say something, we are ignorant, our sources (which, in this case, is their usual source) are invalid, we know nothing, and our logic is always challenged. I especially love the challenge on our logic, because we are just reiterating what they have said to us. On this site, the majority of the right is very arrogant and self-serving. What they say is law, and any that oppose it should just move out of the country. I am personally glad that the Conservatives and Republicans I know are not that way. Otherwise, I would think that our great country is going to turn into one huge area of intolerance!

I'm glad a family finally sued these idiots, I've read a few articles baout this "church". Apparently it is composed mostly of one family, there is a lot of speculation that these protests have nothing to do with their religious beliefs, but are actually a way to elicit a response from either police or bystanders that allow them to file lawsuits. It's highly possible that their only goal is to make money from these lawsuits.

Yes...that is deranged.
The best way to support the troops is, in the words of Rep. Ron Paul, "Just bring them home".
By the way, I am one of those troops and have been to Iraq twice.
It is no surprise that Ron Paul has gotten more campaign donations from military personnel and vets than any other presidential candidate.
He is the only voice of sanity in the whole election!!!

The far right has never supported "The Troops." What they do is give ex-Generals jobs that pay 1 million a year working for their Military Industrial Complex. Good military-men don't speak up, because they're not trained to. They are trained to be good military-men. It's our job, as citizens to speak for what is right. Not those whose job, rightfully, requires them to do what they're told.
These Fox-News type are not real Republicans, like Dwight Eisenhower. In fact, they are about as American as King George and his Loyalists who we Americans fought against in the Revolutionary War.

That last statement was very ignorant... how many Southern Baptists do you know? I'm not one, but do know many, and I am sick of people putting down the south on here!

So, IS Topeka, Kansas or Baltimore in the SOUTH? And WHY is your "source" Fox news... they have no credibility!

No one but the few whackos who did that agree with what they did. It's just like using the few examples of badly behaved soldiers in Iraq to describe how all of them are... INACCURATE.

*I'm a liberal democrat, to the geniuses who can't tell...
F-ox news...

You said it yourself: these people are deranged.
This is the same type who showed at Matthew Shephard's funeral, and the court hearings for the people who brutally murdered him. This has nothing to do w/supporting the troops. Shame on YOU for (intentionally?) omitting this point, twisting and GRASPING at an argument.
