It depends why you are telling them
If you've just walked up to someone and said 'Hi, I'm a Scorpio' they might think you're really weird, I would!

I would say that because the creature of Scorpio is actually a Scorpion, which many people are scared of (Arachnophobia), Aracnophobic and superstitious people may believe that like a scorpion, you would be a hard and perhaps prickly person. They could also assume that you would be a strong willed or bossy person, who is'nt partciulary good to be around.
And there is of course the fact that if you just go around telling random people that you are scorpio, they could label you as a nutcase!!!

Us Scorpios are known to be strong willed, stubborn, argumentative and very determined to get what they want. We often have a very hot, frequently uncontrolled temper and crossed can be can be spiteful too. There is a reason we have a sting in our tail.
However, we are very loyal and the most sexual of signs. I have to say I have more people focus on the sexuality aspects of the sign than the negatives! The passion that you would use for arguing can be outlet in other ways...

Scorpio's are sensitive, sensual, intelligent and great fun but they also monipulative, they like to play games and can be quite selfish and insesitive to others feeling. Becuase their clever and like to play with other peoples minds this makes them dangeruos. I know a few scopios and get on great with them... but I'd never tell them a secret that could be thrown back at me at any point. Scorpio's keep you on your feet which isn't always a bad thing :) Scopios have a bad stigma attached to them and in many cases they deserve it but in their defense they are there own worst enimies. Don't fret on it, smile about it and think, "they couldn't handle me anyway" :) Could be worse, you could be an october libran! The smile of a libran with the mind of a scorpio! Deadly! :)

Hey Im a Scorpio...birthday was yesterday and Im sexy, strong willed and passionate.
Most people dont like strong people and I bet being a scorpion you are pretty strong and determined!
Sod the people that walk off...they couldnt handle you!

I married a Scorpio and my mum is a scorpio...when we are all in the same room its a nightmare sometimes...too many opinions flying around. But we love each other so much and would fight to the death to support each other!!!

We get a bad reputation, us Scorpio's. Once I had a mug for Scorpio and it read "Most likely to murder their enemy".
Well with that kinda stuff being sold about us what else can any poor soul think but the worst.
It isn't true, we would murder ya even if ya weren't our enemy......Haa kidding.....where is a cup with something positive about us like our sense of humour?

I have NO clue...I have been wondering why everytime a guy asks me my sign and I say Scorpio they think im gone smash that night..or I'm a "freak".... Which is nothing like me ;)

I agree with Jooles. Scorpions are considered sexual, steamy, erotic, mysterious, playful, vengeful, spiteful, loyal, passionate and emotional.

i get the same reaction, people tend to change their moods rather quickly, and usually if i dont get along well with that person, i have found that they are a bit more cautious, oddly i have had to thank myself...well, for being myself! it is almost as if my sign stands as my own weapon, everyone knows what we are and they always call me a freak when they find out my sign. surely not a "freak" but a "FREAK" ...if you know what i mean *wink wink*

Because they are considered mean... When I was younger my cousin who was a scorpio used to beat me up... So therefore I always associated scorpios being mean.
