It would be helpful to know what kind of anime you are interested in.
Anyways, here's a list of stuff currently airing in Japan.

-Baccano! is the best currently airing in my opinion. It's action/adventure/mystery
-CLANNAD is good if you like drama and good solid harems like Kanon, or Shuffle
-Hero Tales is the best fighting series, and was made by the same people who did Full Metal Alchemist (subs have been slow with this, so we are going to sub it, so don't worry about that)
-Kaiji is a unique story of a debtor trying to get his money back by gambling
-Minami-ke is a slice of life/comedy show following the lives of three sisters. It's pretty hilarious.
-Moyashimon is another unique story about a kid who can see microbes. Probably the most original story this season
-Myself; Yourself is another good romance (but some people find the voices to be annoying, personally I think they are fine)
-Shugo Chara would be the choice to watch if you are looking for something shojo
Those are the ones I am really enjoying thus far.
If you want generic shonen stuff like Naruto and Bleach, watch Hero Tales, Dragonaut, Night Wizard, or Prism Arc
As far as last season is concerned:
-Claymore if you want more shonen action.
-Darker than Black for really good action/mystery/suspense
-Gurren Lagann if you want some weird/awesome mecha fights
-Kaze no Stigma if you want more shonen. Less action than Claymore, but more drama/romance (still not much romance though)
-Lucky Star for slice of life and comedy
-Seto no Hanayome for romantic comedy
and I could go on, and on, and on. what do you like?
