Because Bush ignored the traitor Democrats call to cut and run and he let a genuine American hero... Gen. Petraeus implement his plan.
It is pathetic how these weasel Dems are so invested in our defeat in Iraq for their own political purposes...watch...many of them will now start claiming the supported they surge.
Memo to: beatchan above:
"Tell that to every parent whose lost a child in this war this past month."
The men and women that are fighting in Iraq and Afganistan are not "children". They are grown adults who have volunteered to go into harms way for a mission they believe in.

Insurgents do what insurgents do best: Lay low until the heat is off.
The locals can wait forever. US patience with this mess was over long ago (ask somebody who's relative is in Iraq honey). The lesson of Vietnam is lost on Bush and Chaney. Maybe that's because they dodged their service to the country????

I had heard that the mission has turned to a more protection mode. rather than hunting insurgents and risk hurting civilians the US is focusing on protecting the civilians. This has cut down on both military and civilian deaths and injuries. Looks like it is a good plan that has been working so far...........

Very interesting links, and the first may substantiate your claim about the "surge" working. Thanks.
That claim about 19,000 "insurgents" being killed may be correct, but there wouldn't be "insurgents" in Iraq if we hadn't invaded on bogus "intelligence," to begin with. If someone invaded my country, I'd damned well be an insurgent, too, so I think that should be qualified.
That "fighting them over there" argument is bogus, I think -- unless you're referring to the fact that our borders are still conveniently porous for any illegal to walk through and start blowing things up -- which is a distinct possibility, as long as we have such horrible border security.

A form of ethnic cleansing has taken place in Iraq as many Iraqis have fled their homes or been driven out. Sunni and Shiite areas tend to more homogeneous now.
There are fears of future violence where some neighborhoods remain mixed or where Sunni and Shiia neighborhoods border each other.

Many of the Insurgents who previously supported Saddam, and then worked with Al Qeada are now fighting on our side, and we are arming them. If we had not killed so many of them, we would have even more allies now.

The surge is working well because the facts are not being brought to light. God bless President Bush, the silly democrats think he is so stupid but he is smart enough to alter the Iraqi reports. Long live President Bush!!

So a terrorist can't blow something up over here, because we are involved in a war in Iraq? Why not?

Tell that to every parent whose lost a child in this war this past month. If it's your child dead, you'd care. It's not a matter of working, it's a matter of Nation Building. Nation Building is not an American ideal.

Aww yes, and Snowhite lived happily
ever after in Thornred Castle, Lalaland.
Btw it is rather lower average to hit 19,000
during a random killing of 650,000 Iraquis totally.
