If they were determined to attack American's in America wouldn't they choose the most direct route in coming here instead of wasting time in Iraq, and doesn't it stand to reason that our resources would be better spent protecting our "homeland" than trying to solve the political promblems of a people (Iraqis) who don't seem to like us very much ?

Oh, absolutely! I've been railing against that inanity (no typo, people) for a long time. I mean, really - there are actually terrorists sitting around in Baghdad lamenting the war because it's preventing them from doing damage in the US?
By that logic, Spain and Britain should never have had their transit systems attacked by terrorists, since they had troops "fighting them there" in Iraq.
[ADDED] The logic-challenged who are answering this are cause for extraordinary concern about the future of this country. Let's ask them all if storks are the means by which babies arrive - the reliance on spurrious correlation is the same.

Please let me remind everyone that the Bush administration ignored all of the warnings which made 911 possible in the first place.
If they really want to protect OUR land, they would stop all of the ridiculous rules at the airport (nothing over 2 ounces, even if it's breast milk!) and concentrate on the ports. Very few of the containers coming through our ports are screened. Therefore, if I were a terrorist, I'd send 50 containers through with people, weapons, bombs, etc & maybe one will be discovered. And that's only in one shipment. Now multiply it by all the ships coming in every day.
We have done nothing but turn the world against us by invading Iraq. We're in more danger now than ever before. Thank you, Mr Bush!!!

We pull out after Blackhawk down and they came here in the form of 9/11.
There have been many plots that have been foiled since 9/11.
How many attacks will it take before you catch on that this is a war?
The first WTC bombing the explosive expert ran off to Iraq for safety.
9/11 was not all about bin laden it was about all the Muslim terrorist that are out to kill us all.
It is not only us but the world is part of this dealing with Muslim terrorism.
Take a look and see for yourself.

Iraq offers Al Qaida the best opportunity to kill Americans. Why do you think they have been recruiting foreign fighters all of these years. Easy access into Iraq from surrounding terrorist states ie. Iran and Syria. They were once supported by Sunni sympathizers (that has changed now).

First, let me say to "fireinthewire" that they most definitely do NOT have "the right to follow us home"! As the self-appointed giver of that right, perhaps you'd be willing to offer yourself, or your loved ones, to them to help ensure they get their "rights"? I didn't think so.
Secondly, it's not necessarily illigocal -- it just all depends on who we're talking about. There are doubtless some in Iraq who are committing horrendous acts of barbarity just to show their hatred of our presence there, and they might cease such activity when we leave, or when they are able to install a government that suits their tastes.
Then there are doubtless others that would indeed "follow us home", who hate us for who we are and would likely hate us whether or not we had ever gone to Iraq.

They are fighting us there, because that is where we are. They are trying to liberate Muslim land from the nonbelievers. Once that is done they will start attacking us here. They may not follow us home, but they will come here to attack us again. Why would they not? They where doing it years before 9/11.

Due to the increased pricing of crude oil and the decreased capacity for refining, I find it highly unlikely that any terrorists would be able to afford the air fare for such a lengthy trans-Atlantic flight. However, should the airlines lower prices significantly, I'm sure we can look forward to increased terrorist activity during the holiday season.

Oh, yeah! Terrorists will NEVER attack American soil!
Oh, wait......
Never mind.
So why haven't they attacked us lately? Maybe because they are protecting their homeland? I mean, it really isn't that complicated of a concept. I thought you Democrats were smarter than that. Their top priority is protecting themselves, their second priority is killing us. If they don't have to protect themselves any more, guess what they try to do even more?

They have a right to follow the US home. The US went on a rampage after some of its people were killed. Why wouldn't someone who lost a relative to American action not have the right to do as America does?
It will never end. The only way to stop it is to leave and deal with those who want revenge.
Look at Israel. Will it ever end?
