In your opinion, what's a good book about UK's history from WWII to 2000?

Thanks!

There are two excellent general books, but they only cover the period 1956-1970, respectively 'You've Never Had It So Good' and 'White Heat' by Dominic Sandbrook. There are a number of books covering the immediate post war years. Then there is Andrew Robert's tome 'A History of the English Speaking People from 1900', but this begins before your period and also includes the USA - and has been heavily criticised for being extremely right-wing. It does cover at least the Thatcher years, however. I can't think of anything that comes right up to date
