From what I've read, it sounds like this lady was under severe stress. She had spoken to the police a couple of times regarding anti-social behaviour. She was probably being targeted because of her daughter's disability.

Seems like she came to the end of her tether.

Tragic story and tragic end.

If this is the story we think it is the daughter was 18yrs of age and had severe learning disabilities. If you are not in a similar situation ie being a full-time Carer for a disabled child or adult, you will not know that there isn't that much help available. As with a lot of NHS facilities it depends on the area in which you live. Carers save the NHS and the Government vast amounts of money every year but when famillies need a bit of help its not there in return. Respite care is difficult to find and some famillies never get a break from caring for their loved one and the stress from lack of sleep/ feelings of lonliness and isolation are enough to put someone over the edge. Our hearts go out to this family and we hope and pray that they were both near death before the car went up in flames as the alternative doesn't bear thinking about. The mother needs our prayers, the family our sympathy not judgement.

I was never blessed with having children so that makes me very angry & sad when these things happen. Here in the US, it seems to be almost as bad as all these school shootings. Within the last 3 weeks there have been 4 cases in my area of a father in 1 case & a mother in the others.. The lady who left her kids in a car & drove it into the lake, the lady in Texas who drowned her children 1 at a time. The world today is crazy and I do not see any changes in the near future. How or why these women do this is mind boggling. They get away with mental problems & are slapped on the wrist, sentenced to life in an institution. They commited murder ........put them in jail. What is all that about?? Being put in an institution is like going to a country club n that will teach them what??

We're taught from a young age that women are saintly and men are responsible for all the evil in the world. That's why modern society is shocked when women do evil things. Immediately in these cases the unlikely alliance of feminists and patriarchal types look for explanantions that put the blame on some man somewhere. It's as if women cannot be held responsible for their actions.

Desperation and unselfish love. Years of inadequate support for carers. It is the most physically, emotionally draining job in the world. The woman may have had a terminal illness and saw years of abuse, neglect ahead for the child she had loved and protected for years without her protection. I am commenting on the mother and 18yr old disabled daughter found in the car. Similar scenario in other cases.

I don't think it's got anything to do with anti social yobs. It is more likely she was suffering from mental disorder.
Either way it is very tragic.

Society has painted a pretty picture of it self, but in those moments of great need, society lets out their wolves, and you can not deny it. That is why the people have amendment rights. Stop painting such a perfect picture of your best side, it still does not shed light or trap the real monster you have caged inside of you. It is most likely that the beast is fed by placing the blame on one person. such as the mother.

Well I've always said that yobs and bullies should be birched and I mean it.In this case they could almost be charged with manslaughter.

I have worked with women who have killed their babies, and after failed suicide attempts, ended up where I work. The overwhelming idea of it is " nobody can look after my baby better than me"
Some are desperate to end their own lives for very good reasons, ie terminal illness.
