Let me clear up the question and give some insight on why i ask.... since it is a "strange" question..

Our house has been on the market for 6 months with very few people looking at it. I NEVER hear from my agent. At all. I want to sell my house and I don't think that the agent I have now wants to really work for me. I understand that the market is not great right now and my house is within (lower end) of the comparable market value.

Our contract with this agency is up in December and I was asking this question so that maybe with this information I could better choose my next agency.

Given your purpose, you may not be asking the best question to assist in your quest.

What I would look at if I were you is another way to approach it.

In most neighborhoods, there are one or two agents who do a lot of the listing in that area. These people, regardless of which firm they work for, specialize in that neighborhood. Typically they know the values there well and other agents who have buyers for that area are going to trust and respect them for the knowledge. and their trustworthiness and that transfers to their listings.

Plus being a specialist in an area, they encounter buyers who are interested in that area. They can offer buyers "advance notice" of their new listings, so they usually have people ready to buy in that area.

How to find these agent?
If your house has been on the market for a long time, you have noticed other homes listed and sold in that time. Who were the agents? I bet a couple of names come to mind immediately. Those are your specialists.

Another method of finding the specialist in your area is to call
the 5 most prominent firms in your area and ask for the broker-manager, each office has one. Ask them who in their firm specializes in your area? Ask them to have that person call you about listing.
Ask each of those 5 "specialists" to provide you, via mail, with a list of all their sales in that specific area in the last 18 months including seller's name and phone number.

Some "specialist" won't have much to show, while some will.
The ones that do, are the ones you want to speak with in person, regardless of how big their firm is. All you should care about is who does the best job in your area.

After they have provided their list of sold homes in your area and you have a chance to speak to some of the sellers, then ask the agents you want to come see your home at a specific time.

Don't fall in the "we sell the most" trap. You want to know who sells the most in your specific area and be able to speak to some of their sellers.

There is more you should do but this will get you going

Hope this helps.

That's a very difficult question to answer, given that the agency who lists the property may not be the agency which procured the buyer. Furthermore, those who can reasonably claim to have 'sold the most homes' are not necessarily those with whom you desire to work. The ones which sell the most homes many times do so by pressuring the seller to accept an offer to purchase which could have been better.

why would you want to know that (that's strange), since all agents are independent contractors. Myself, I'd find it more beneficial to know which agents sold the most homes.

I don't know that there are accurate records on agents who sold the most homes though since the realtor's association would only tell you about those who belong to their association and would neglect the agents who do not belong to their organization.

Several years ago many of the real estate agencies joined together, so although they have different names and different ways of marketing (and certainly do have different agents) they work different areas as well as sell different kinds or property (residential, commercial, high end, beachfront, rentals, some are buyers agents, some are sellers agents, etc.) So you really can't compare one to the other.

The realtors association probably keeps records of their giving awards for the highest seller.
