Possibly Indiana. Indiana is thought of as a basketball state and definitely not a football state. Notre Dame is here in Indiana and it has won about as many national football championships as any college and contributed tons of players to the NFL like Joe Montana, arguably considered the best NFL quarterbarck in NFL history. Then you have Drew Brees, New Orleans' quarterback which came from Purdue University in Indiana and helped the Saints get further in their playoff history than ever before. And you have Antwan Randle El (Indiana University), who currently plays for the Washington Redskins and helped Pittsburgh win the Super Bowl. Then you have the Colts who win their first Super Bowl last year, have gone 6-0 for at least 3 straight years and their head coach has the best winning percentage of any NFL coach in NFL history. Not only that but Dungy wrote a #1 Best Seller book. Manning and Harrison have set tons of records. And the only team anyone hears about this year even with the Colts still a perfect 6-0 is the Patriots who they have beaten the last 3 times they have played them.

And I think few even realized that little Ball State University up in Muncie, Indiana almost beat ranked Nebraska towards the beginning of the season AT Nebraska. That would have been very similar to Appalachian State beating Michigan.

Legendary Bob Griese played for Purdue. His son plays for the Bears. Rex Grossman was a high school quarterback in Bloomington, Indiana. Lol...Maybe I should have left Grossman out...but hey he got Chicago to their first Super Bowl in over 20 years.

New York. the giants and jets actually play in Jersey. The bills are the bills. Syracuse is a basketball school, who somehow convinced McNabb and Harrison to atted for a few years, but they still are "the" football school in NY.
