why wouldn't the colts repeat in 2008? i'm not being cocky, and i'm not looking for stuff like manning's a choker, and tom brady rules. i want legitimate reasons and examples of the possibilities of 2 in a row, or not 2 in a row. i appreciate all intelligent answers. by the way tony kornhieser, you're not allowed to answer

The are one of the two teams i would consider the favorites to win the super bowl. Even though the are still havent lost since last years regular season, the patriots are proving that the colts will have competition this year. They just look flashy and unstoppable. The colts dont have seem to have that"flash" this year.

I think the Colts have a very legitimate shot at repeating. They are a better team than last year. The defense is definitely better and the offense isn't too bad either. When I look at the Colts I see a lot of depth. A team needs a lot of depth in order to win a Super Bowl, because you are bound to get injuries throughout the season and the Colts have a ton of people that can step up and fill in the gaps. I'm amazed by the number of great receivers the Colts have. I think you could pull the entire first string and throw in the second string and still compete with basically any NFL team in the league.

There is only one major concern I have. And that is of course the Patriots. The Colts have beaten them the last three times that they have played them, but the Patriots definitely are better than they have been the last few years. What concerns me is not that New England is so good, but that their schedule is so easy compared to the Colts.

Having been a Colts fan since the Marchibroda and Captain Comeback days, I know how hard it can be for the Colts to play in New England. Luckily the Colts have the rare luck of playing New England here in Indy in the regular season instead of at New England. However, Indy cannot afford to allow New England to win in Indy. Anybody that has watched the Colts vs. New England rivalry knows how hard it is for the Colts to win in New England in bad weather. Indy needs to probably beat New England here in Indy and go probably to have a record of 15-1 to have home field advantage in the play-offs. With the tough schedule that the Colts have, that could be very hard to do. New England on the other hand basically has only about 1 tough game after the Colts with the Steelers. That gives New England an advantage to have home field in the playoffs. Yes, the Colts have beaten New England the last three times they have played them. But you have to look at the circumstance when they did.

The last time was here in Indy and the Colts barely beat them in a come from behind win. Note that the Colts were in the RCA Dome where weather is not a factor.

The time before that was in New England (Colts won). Luckily, the weather was nice since it was early in the season.

The time before that was in New England (Colts won). Luckily, the weather was nice then.

The several times before that the Colts mainly played them in New England and the weather was awful, snowy and cold. The Colts got blown out in many of those games where the weather was bad.

The playoffs will be late in the season. And knowing Foxboro, it will probably be a snow bowl if the Colts have to play there in the playoffs. And the Colts don't tend to do good in bad cold weather. A HUGE advantage for the Patriots if they can get it. And possibly a Super Bowl stopper for the Colts if it happens.

The Colts are the ONLY team in 2008 who has a chance to repeat as Superbowl Champs!!!

That is one thing going for them...they won last year!!!

Now the argument is that repeating is harder than winning the first time.

However, I will agree that your Colts are a special team, they have arguably one of the greatest QB's of all time and the orgnanization has developed a system around him.

Now, we can all talk about the competition in the AFC...the biggest being the Patriots.

Clearly the Patriots and Colts are the two best teams in the AFC...but like any other team...they can lose on any given Sunday.

With that, I don't look at Regular season results...I'm not concerned with what happens in the regular season. All we need to do is look at the Patriots-Cowboys game and see that the Cowboys could have easily won that game and chances are if they were to play again, the Patriots would lose.

In the end, this is about winning in the post-season and judging from what I've seen...the Colts could very well do it again in Arizona...

Unless of course Wade Phillips has exercised his own playoff demons...then my biased opinion picks the Stars to win it all.

They have a legitamate shot at 2 in a row. they are the best team and defending champs, and until the Pats beat them, this will hold true. That game on Nov. 4 will be a barn burner. I would not worry about Pitt. they will not beat either Pats or Colts. The NFC is rather weak and has been for a few years. But Dallas, GB, and TB look like the possible NFC rep maybe even NY. But I do not see NFC winning over AFC. Like I said until NE beats Indy, they are still the team to beat.

The reason why they can repeat is not on the offensive side of the ball, which has been good for years. A defense that brings to the table Bob Sanders and Dwight Freeney give the Colts the leverage they need to repeat as Super Bowl champs. If Bob Sanders goes down we could see the Colt's run defense slip into the embarrassment it became prior to Sanders' return in the playoffs.

The Colts will repeat simply because they are an even better team than last year.
Their offense is just as potent, if not more so. And their defense is now ranked 3rd in the NFL.
Manning has learned that you DON'T have to score outrageous points to win a game. But he also knows that he CAN if he needs to (look at the season opener against the Saints). An even better Manning is a scary thing.
An even better defense is something other NFL teams don't want to face.
Simply put....the only way to beat the Colts is to keep their offense off the field. But, how do you do that when their defense is so good that they keep your offense OFF the field?

It is very possible they are able to get back to back Superbowls, theres no doubt about the skill they have, and the teamwork. But this year they have alot of work to do, against the Patriots, a team that has been doing amazing for about a decade straight. Manning and Brady are both talented and experienced, and it will be a good game when they face. Im not picking sides, even tho i am a Pats fan, but The colts will have a run for their money this year against the deadly weapon of Brady and Moss, 27 Td passes and 10 td receptions, its all about the defense for both sides.

I think the winner of the Nov 4th game between Colts and Pats will be major in deciding who represents AFC in Superbowl. Whoever does represent AFC should beat NFC team. Lets not forget about Pittsburg though. They also have a tough team.
