They are somewhat over-rated... They will be tested against teams like Indy and Pitt soon.

They did play the best the NFC had to offer, but that team hasnt played anyone either, and they even struggled against the Bills.

So, lets wait a couple more weeks and see how "REAL" this Pats team is.

Maybe a little. Their schedule has been less than intimidating so far, but they still are blowing NFL teams out of the water week in and week out, and regardless of who you are playing, that still is pretty impressive.

They'll be tested in the next few weeks with games against the Colts, Skins, Ravens, and Steelers. They also play the G-men at the end of the season. If they continue this dominance, I will be shut up completely, and I will admit to my mistake, but I can't see that happening. They have a new offense, and as the season progresses, teams will be able to get some more film for gameplanning, which will slow them down a bit. A great example of this is the Saints from last season - if you remember, they had a new offensive system, and they started off something like 5-1, and then they ended up being 10 - 6 as teams caught on to what they were doing.

Devilish - You make very good points, but you forgot that the Pats played the Cowboys, so they have only played one game against a team with a winning record. Just wanted to let you know.

They are very good, but I think how good they are is way overstated.

Compare them to the Colts schedule so far:

First Game - New Orleans - coming off making it to NFC championship and the talks of them possibly having gone to the Super Bowl

Second Game - Tennesse - at the time tied for first in the AFC South

Third Game - Houston - at the time in the lead for first in the AFC South

Fourth Game - Denver - first in AFC West at the time

Fifth Game - Tampa Bay - first in NFC South at the time

Sixth Game - Jacksonville 2nd in AFC South to the Colts

Seventh Game - Carolina Panthers - currenty first in NFC South

Eighth Game - New England - first in AFC East even if they lose a game before they play the colts

And of course the AFC South which the Colts play in has the best record of any of the divisions.

I wonder how many more teams that are first in their division that the Colts will have to play and beat.

And New England has yet to play a team with a winning record. New England has great stats against poor teams. The Colts have good stats against good teams.

Enough said?

I kind of equate it to the BCS Championship last year of Florida and OSU. The Colts are flying under the radar like Florida playing tough team after tough team. And the Patriots are putting up stats off the board like OSU but playing nobody of any strength (the Big Ten was weak last year even though Michigan and OSU had good records). We all know which team won that game.

The team is not overrated; Brady is. We are not talking about last years teams either... we are talking about this year. Pats have had a cake schedule. They have played one tough team so far, but they did destroy them. They can win every game and still lose in the playoffs. They now have a test coming... Indy on the 4th, Baltimore & Pitt back to back and wrap it up against the Giants. They might have to play that game serious if they lose any game. Indy has played the hardest part of their schedule they only have 1 tough team left after New England.

Well they will get a test at Indy, Pittsburgh is not a test for them. Pittsburg can't win on the road, they're only road win was at buffalo, and they probably couldn't win there at this point. There are only 2 teams worth more than a dime in the AFC, Pats and Colts. We'll find out November 4th which one is doing better than the other.

I don't really think they are over rated but I think Brady is getting too much credit. He has maybe the best O-line in the league (along with Indy) and has he ever done what he is doing with out Moss (Moss has done it with the Vikes)? and I know Pats fans are Like whats Manning ever done w/o Harrison, Wayne and Clark well he was doing it with just Harrison. Hate on Manning all you want He is still great. And everyone else can Hate on Brady too b/c he is also great. Right now other than Farve they are the only 2 Hall of Fame QB's playing

Yes, a good coach would know you have to create good blitz packages to get Tom Brady off his game and mess him up a bit. But no team has done that, Dallas was close but no cigar.
The star of that team is actually its offensive line NOT Tom Brady or Bill Belichek.

Peace,

I don't believe they are overated at all... going into the season they played :

Jets ( a supposed championship team from 2006 )
Chargers ( a supposed championship team from 2006 )

of course the Jets and Chargers didn't realize they weren't "winning" teams at that point in the season... they hype was the, the same as it is now... and the Patriots won...

Cowboys (5-0 supposedly on the road to the 2007 championship)

The Patriots are on their game.... and certainly not overated, just don't make the mistake of unerestimating them...

No, they are not over-rated. they humbled my Cowboys. NE and Indy are the two best teams. You can't even put Pittsburgh is the same sentence with those two. they are by far the two best teams in the league. Pitt and Dallas are the next two, not in any specific order. Too bad they couldn't play each other in the SB. I think the game on Nov 4th, should be the SB. As far as their schedule goes. they have not control over that.

They are not overrated, they are over powered. When you have a QB passing for 27 TD in 7 games, thats amazing.. Most QBs dont even get 27 TD passes in a season, and this one is not even halfway done with. We will see who comes out on top when the Pats play the Colts, then your question will truly be resolved
