The Renaissance Period (1350-1550) was the transition period between the Medieval Era and the modern world. The word renaissance means "revival" or "rebirth".

Specifically a particular date can not be mentioned for a revolution or transition. In 1453 AD the ottoman Turks conquered Constantinople ( now Istambul).It followed three impacts;(1) Renaissance,(2)Reformation (3) Geographical Discoveries. Constantinople was the den of educational ,cultural and scientific research or activities which were actually banned or restricted by the then Pope in Rome.Following attack the wise & Scholars fled away to Rome and started their educational & cultural activities which pope failed to control.Local people also began the same in touch with them.Ultimately this uprising pf knowledge and culture may be deemed as Renaissance.So long West Europe was morally subjugated by The religious Head Pope who even controlled family life even.He also passed misguided idea about Universe.After Renaissance people found it necessary to restrict or curtail Pope's power. Hence Christianity basing on difference in opinion was divided into two= Catholic and Protestant.Fall of Constantinople closed business door/ way to India.Navigators came out to discover new routes.In this way Columbus discovered America and Vaas co De Gama discovered Indian route.

I agree entirely with UTMike, but would go further and say that you should never use 'start' and 'end' in respect of any epoch. You can say, for example, that a war started on such and such a date but it is very dangerous to tie anything else down to a particular year. Nobody woke up one morning and said 'yippee, the Dark Ages have ended and I'm now in the Middle Ages'. Things don't happen like that. Historians of the future may class us as living in the information revolution - but you can't say that started on a particular day of a particular month in a particular year in, say, the 1980s. Everything is gradual and change takes place slowly.

The words "start" and "end" are extraordinarily problematic when discussing the Renaissance. It implies that one day or even decade that it just started happening, when really it was a gradual process. I am a history major and would strongly advise against using the words start and end in your assignment.
