How safe are our Yahoo! Answers staff and participants ex South California forest fires?

Not a problem. Yahoo is in Sunnyvale, in central California, nowhere near the fires. In fact, it's plenty too far away for any of them to commute. Look at the map of California: Sunnyvale is just over the mountains inland of that big "bite" out of the coast which is Monterey Bay, and just south of the long "finger" that has San Francisco on its tip. Or rather south of the San Francisco Bay that creates that finger.

I have heard the are in LA so unless the fires reach the city they will be alright.
