In the book cover of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince [Scholastic], there is Albus Dumbledore and Harry beside. They're in front of a basin. Im confused. Is the 'basin' the pensieve? or is it the goblet they saw in the cave?..

I have another question...
Dumblesore said that he must drink all the potion or liquid thingey that is in the basin or goblet. Harry obeyed Dumbledore right? But Dumbledore said "stop please, stop!" to Harry. Because Harry is making Dumbledore to drink the potion. Why did Harry didn't stop it? When Dumbledore said that he should stop drinking the 9 or 10 bottles of potion..

Another question:

How did harry knew that the 'hocrux' [the locket] was a fake?

1. The 'basin' has to be the goblet in the cave - the liquid inside it is green, and the potion Dumbledore drinks in the cave is green.

2. Harry didn't stop giving Dumbledore the potion because Dumbledore had told Harry that he 'must' give Dumbledore all of the potion. Dumbledore warned Harry that he might want to stop drinking, but Harry must make sure he drank it all, even if he had to 'pour it in to my protesting mouth'. And that's what Harry did.

3. Harry did not know that the locket was a fake, he just 'knew that something was wrong' when he saw that it had opened. Horcruxes are supposed to keep the piece of soul trapped inside no matter what - it should never have opened just by hitting the ground, and that is how Harry knew something was wrong.

It was the basin containing the "Horcrux" in the cave. It was NOT a pensieve. Dumbledore had to keep drinking the potion in order to reach the bottom and obtain the "Horcrux". Harry knew it was a fake because there was a letter in the locket from R.A.B. explaining that he took it and planned to destroy it.

Are you sure you read the text thoroughly? Perhaps you should read the ending again, it was a lot of information to digest at once, I suppose.

IMHO, that is the Pensieve. I don't see a goblet with which to drink the potion, and the shape of the basin looks more like the description of the pensieve then how I visualize the basin.

As far as your other question--Dumbledore told Harry to keep making him drink the potion, no matter what. So Harry did.

its definitetly the gree stuff full of the evil potion with the fake horcrux in it. dumbledore's office wouldn't have such a "green and evil" background. plus, the air being all green suggests evil, which is what green stands for a lot. plus, remember? the pensieve is in a bowl, not a tall "fountain" thingy. the pensieve is supposed to be bluish white as well, so if it was the pensieve, the color probably would have been light blue or some other light color.

its not the pensieve, its the basin. don't worry, i didn't realize that untill like the 4th time i read it. i felt pretty stupid since i call myself a harry potter fanatic. anyways, harry didn't stop dumbledore from drinking the potion b/c b4 he started, he made harry promise to force him to drink all of it. i'm sure dumbledore knew he would be flipping out and not be in his right mind, so he had to be sure harry would force him to drink it all.

It's the basin. Not the pensieve. It's all green and Dumblledore is shooting the fire out of his wand. You can see the boat too. I think we're talking about the same cover...
