Feminism:
Organized activity on behalf of women's rights and interests

Notice it says WOMEN'S. Not equality of both sexes; just women's rights period.

Those are not my words, those are verbatum from Webster's dictionary. If you don't believe me, look it up.

How come you think it's OK for you to define what I believe?

Wrong on all counts!

Cheers :-)

Feminism became a pass for equality lower back in formerly years whilst lady could no longer vote, have an ideal training, could no longer have a job devoid of final a 'spinster', could no longer own land so men and females stood up and created feminism a combat for equivalent rights... the word has only caught so the ongoing combat for such equality can proceed. Feminism is basically Humanism (only take out the stupid radical feminists ruining it for something human beings, besides the actuality that they are only as undesirable as a results of fact the unconventional anti-feminists). Definition of Humanism - Humanism is finished existence stance that upholds human reason, ethics, and justice, and rejects supernaturalism, pseudoscience. it incredibly is the moral equipment that facilities on human beings and their values, desires, hobbies, skills, dignity, and freedom. Equality of each and every person and issues and so forth... Feminism definition - Equality between the sexes economically, socially and politically. wish that helped :)

oooh actually ... I am gunna upset some of my fellow females... or maybe NOT if I word myself carefully.....

But there are some women out there .. who CLAIM to be feminists.. and under the banner of feminism .. they actually condone injustices against men... AGAIN I REPEAT SOME...
I have had discussions with women who when questioned about their support of wives abusing husbands.. give the answer of " WELL FOR SO LONG WOMEN HAVE BEEN ABUSED, IT'S ABOUT TIME MEN KNEW WHAT IT FELT LIKE "

when truth be known there have probably ALWAYS been abused husbands out there...and MEN have always known what it felt like. If you believe in equality you don't relish suffering of innocent people on the other side.. ( and I have seen some men and some women BOTH do that)
SUCH women are those that make you ask this question...like terrorists who use the banner of a religion to carry out attrocities... IN BOTH CASES THEY ARE NOT REALLY REPRESENTATIVE of those who do hold true and honest beliefs.

causes often gather those who WILL use them for personal gains and vendettas...and the causes SHOULD disown then and shame them for such behaviours.

I think a REAL feminist is probably a REAL humanist .. and a Humanist WILL be a real feminist ( if that makes any sense to you)

Some of us are. You should quit stereotyping. I value women and men equally. Intelligent, mature women and progressive, evolved men. I HATE misogynists with a passion. They are whiny, unattractive, infantile beings with more psychological hangups than Paula Abdul.

1. Feminists are humanists.
2. Since when was Webster's dictionary an expert on feminism?

If you really want to know something about feminism, read Mary Daly's books. She has interesting things to say about "websters"!

Feminism is primarily gynocentric, but feminists don't ignore men's issues completely. By that logic, masculists would have to call themselves the same thing.

I've said many times that the words people choose to label themselves with don't matter because they've lost their definitions. It's what a person actually believes that matters.

well sure. but they had to fight for equal rights of women since they were not treated equally. lets not forget the right to vote, equal pay (which still isn't happening), and other jobs that were not secretarial. you fight for the underdog, so to speak, and then that fight is over. so one day there will be equality for all.

humanism is a philosophical school of thought that opposes deontological ethics and proposes reasoning instead. feminism is about equal treatment, consideration, and opportunity for women. they aren't the same thing.

anyone is first year poli sci could have told you that.

so basically your argument relies on a rather iffy defintion.

as others have ponted out, the two often overlap.
