Fortunately for me, one of the locks on each of my doors needs to be locked from the outside. Otherwise, I probably would have done it dozens of times. Still, I'm trying to get into the habit of keeping my keys in my pocket, rather than purse...less chance of not having them if I forget the purse (or mistakenly lock the lock that can be locked from the inside).

Oh don't...
I did it yesterday early in the morning. I went up the garden in my dressing gown to quietly pull the wheelie bin into its collecting position (because the bin men will ignore it otherwise). I heard the horrible "click" of my front door closing gently a nanosecond after I realised I hadn't put the key in my pocket or latched the door.
I had to ring the doorbell (repeatedly) and wake my wife and daughters to let me in. I then had to listen as I was chided for not taking the bin up the previous evening as I had been asked to and waking the whole household up too early!

When I was about 14, me and my brother were locked out, I left my key chain at school. We had to break into our own house. Later that week my mom found out when she went into the freezing cold spare room. She beat both of us.

Couple of weeks ago. Headed out to the car for the night shift at work then had to turn around and "break" in to my own house to get my keys. I hate that!

I do it all the time in work, but there's usually someone around with a key at home, thankfully
