One commonly comes across the wordings "Nehru-Gandhi legacy" in a misleading way whenever they are referred to in most of the newspapers!

Yes .Indira ,Rajiv and Sonia belong to Nehru family and not connected with MK Gandhi,

Indira Gandhi was Mahatma Gandhi's granddaughter.
Nehru Gandhi was Indira's father.

Sure--but I don't see why you would find it misleading. Gandhi is a common Indian surname.
