got together their colour pencils & sketched that impression of the abductor themselves???

No, obviously not.

So why the angst against them for the shoddiness of the sketch???

The sketch has been distributed on advice from experts.
Would you expect grieving parents to veto any move to get their baby back...however um...sketchy it may be?
All it points to is their desperation...

If you must slate them, at least pick your battles with them...stick to what they did wrong...leaving their babies unattended...thrash it till you can't anymore if it makes you feel better...please refrain from whining about every single breath they take...its not just tasteless & silly...its cruel.

I agree- most people seem to assume they have a *right* to be involved in this story. They do not. It is not their child missing.

The McCanns know by now their level of responsibility in the affair. Our duty is to help find the child if at all possible, and to leave them to get on with dealing with this terrible tragedy.

I'm not particulary commenting on this regarding the McCanns - because, well....I'm not that interested to be honest!! Yes it's sad and terrible and all that blah blah, but there are loads of other terrible things happening around and not many people seem to care about those. It often fascinates me why some people become fixated on one particular crime or event and then harp on about it for months as if they were personally involved with the family. It's getting like the Diana obsession - why can't people just let the families get on with whatever they need to instead of helping the media turn it into a big circus by creating more propaganda than the tabloids themselves! It's good to be interested in current affairs but then some people do take it a tad too far.

I wonder why did it take the family 6 months to get this sketch released.

Surely it would have been more helpful if it had been released within a month of Maddies dissaperance.

I also personally feel that the sketch is so vague, it would probably match the description of a third of the men in europe.

I sincerely hope that little maddie is found soon, although i doubt she will ever be the same again if by some miracle she is found alive.

Faith, as usual the trolls are jumping on this like hawks to a dead mouse. Mind if I give them some words of advice?

Miserygutz... and you know this because????? Where's your proof? What's the motive?

Preggers - You answer seems to indicate that you think the McCanns drew up this sketch. Please try to pay attention and keep up.

Lisa - The Antis can't make up their minds because they have none.

Little Weed- Spin on this....

Ashley - Your answer makes no sense. (Proving once again my reply to Lisa)

Poppy -"Their whole approach to the disappearance of their daughter has been suspicious. " Why because of the stupid Portugese Laws that forbid them to speak out against all the ludicrious accusations?

EMS Interesting information. Canyou provide a link to your source please? thanks

Autumn Boy and Oban.. - nice response, are you always that articulate?

Mrs. I - no one knows why it took this long to get the sketch released. My guess is the Portugal police or laws had something to do with it.

Faith,

The sketch was adviced by the private investigators hired by the McCanns. I believe this is not designed to spot the abductor now and report to the police, instead it's an attempt to jog people's memory at that particular night who may have seen something similar.

Just to clear it up for the people that are saying that that it was just the McCanns friend that seen that man holding a young child...You are wrong!!! There was also a man from Drogheda in Ireland that seen a man carrying a sleeping child about 5 streets away from the McCanns apartment. His sighting was about half an hour aster the McCanns friend seen that man. The Irish man has made a statement to Portugal cops about this.

Why the hell shouldnt they release the drawing...it might help, you dont know that it wont.

You are right Faith,it it very cruel.I haven't seen the sketch but,I've seen plenty of questions about it.
Everything they do,will be criticised and talked about. If they don't do anything, they get accused of being uncaring,if they do,they get accused of spin.
Personally,I don't think Kate and Gerry care what anyone else think. And so they shouldn't.At the end of the day, they are looking for their daughter, the biggest most upsetting thing in a parents world. What sh!t they get from others is just trivial in comparison.

Well said. I don't condone them leaving their children alone to go and eat at a restaurant, but they are certainly paying the price for it. What could be a worse punishment than losing their daughter.

I don't think the sketch will help though. It could be anyone, and I'm sure the Police will have already checked out any suspect they have who matches this description. They will have been given this description in the first few hours.

I think the McCann's are suffering enough without being vilified by the public.

They have done a lot more wrong than just leave their children alone.
And people are not slating them without reason. Their whole approach to the disappearance of their daughter has been suspicious. People are getting sick and tired of them taking up space in the news with more ludicrous attempts to keep them in the spotlight. They are not focused on their daughters disappearance just on their own public image.

And how convenient is it that originally this man spotted was only carrying a large bundle now months later she decides that it was a child specifically wearing Maddies pyjamas, would this not have been useful info the night she was abducted???

Ems---- how many people on holidays carry their kids in blankets at night it could be linked but it may not be either, and dint you think this lead would have been followed up by now.
Whatever people say about the PJ no one knows for sure what they have done due to the privacy laws and I do not believe that they would not have exhausted these leads as this is such a high profile international case and as I have said many a time the PJ are not going to want to look incompetent.
Personally I think this is another desperate attempt by the McCanns
