I'm currently in year 12 from today and I feel rather depressed, anxious about the hsc approaching in 11 months time. Looking back at year 11, I have done quite horribly in my subjects except for english, I have a habit of comparing my test marks with my other friends and they usually get higher marks them me, this leads to not being able to study and my head being filled with worry. And what hurts me is that most of my friends don't understand my situation, they make fun of mark instead of encouraging me to do better and soon after they would celebrate and brag about their marks amonst other friends. Don't get me wrong, they're still my friends but it seems that socials aspects of school are going badly for me...

So this is what i thought, I am going to avoid my social life and start studying for the upcoming HSC to show them that my hard work has payed off?? WIll it all be worth it at the end when i put my effort into studying in exchange for friends & social aspects of HS?

These jerks are not your true friends.
They are just kids you go to school with,
you should buckle down and find some new friends,
ignore these others. I'd start working on passing,
take this from someone who has already been there
and done that.
Live your life for yourself...Not for them.
Check around, see if you can get a tutor
to help you re-learn how to study.
If you put your mind to it, it can happen.
Besides, you really don't want
to be in your 50s or 60s
and still driving a taxi
or flipping burgers
or washing cars.
Now is the time to do something with your life.
Starting over at 28 is not the way to go,
trust me, because this is what I did.
It was really hard after 10 years to go back to school.
Do these things now,
while you are young enough to have a career, not just a job.

This is a good thing as long as you are doing it for yourself.

If you doing it in spite or your friends, or to seek revenge on them then nothing good with come of it in the long run. You'll be feeding yourself terrible emotions for 11 months, and when the test is done your going to realize that you might have gotten higher scores than your friends, only they're not your friends anymore.

Hard work does pay off, but the trick is finding balance between work and play. I wouldn't avoid my friends altogether, but I would definitely cut back on how many hours I spent with them.

Good Luck

You work hard for yourself not for others and i don't think those are your true friends. You may avoid social activities but never isolate your mind & heart.
