I think "shadow people" is just one description. These things have been around forever. They're not alway black (sometimes they are a dark grey) and they don't always take the shape of people.

Also I don't think there is such a thing as a regular ghost. There are an incredible variety of different apparitions that people like to group together under one banner.

The black/grey shape-shifters that you are asking about are very primitive and negative. They feed from all negativity, they like the dark, and although they can't hurt you physically, they can hurt you mentally with their negativity.

It's relatively rare to actually see one, they don't like to be seen, probably a lot more people have them hanging around than realise it.

They dislike. light, positive thinking, music and happiness.

I discussed my recent experience with one in a question listed a little while after yours, so I don't want to write it all out again.

Oh, so you're limiting the field of who can answer? How do you expect to learn about anything at all if you are only willing to consider ideas that conform to your rigid perspective?

Shadow people have been around for quite some time. It's one of a long list of supernatural creatures that have been created to explain things that aren't immediately apparent. Naturally, like ghosts, they resemble humans, are never quite there, have no testable characteristics and have never been shown to exist.

If you ask a true believer he will tell you a shadow person is something you see out of the corner of your eye, but when you look again it isn't there. If it isn't there then it isn't there. If it isn't there then it doesn't exist. To what lengths are people willing to go to declare just about anything paranormal?

Have you ever thought you saw someone out of the corner of your eye? Or a glimpse of an entity? But then when you go to look at it straight on - its not there?
The creatures you are seeing are called "Shadow people".

I don't know when the actual term was developed but with the increased usage of the Internet it is something that is becoming more widely known and accepted.

While I don't believe that anyone knows for sure what it is or isn't, one thing is true, most people will experience this at some point in their lives.

Here are some interesting sites you might want to check out.

I hope this helps. :)

Shadow people are apparently the topic of the evening for me. The phenomenon is far from new, but the terminology's widespread use is relatively new.

The earliest usage I can think of was an old radio show called the "Hall of Fantasy." In the early fifties, there was an episode called "The Shadow People" which talked about very similar phenomena.

I have only really heard this term often in the past few years or so and it was preceded by the term "shadowy figure" as far as I can tell...lol. I suppose it is just the most straightforward way to refer to such a thing.

Hope that helps!

Shadow people (also known as shadow men, shadow folk, or shadow beings) are said to be shadow like creatures of supernatural origin that appear as dark forms in the peripheries of people's vision and disintegrate, or move between walls, when noticed.

Reports of shadow people are similar to ghost sightings, but differ in that shadow people are not reported as having human features, wearing modern/period clothing, or attempting to communicate. Witnesses also do not report the same feelings of being in the presence of something that 'was once human'. Some individuals have described being menaced, chased, or attacked by shadow people. There have also been reports of shadow people appearing in front of witnesses or lingering for several seconds before disappearing. Witnesses report that encounters are typically accompanied by a feeling of dread/

Believers in shadow people? I don't think there are any. This is really like asking for believers in the tooth fairy.
