Yes of course. You can not get direct employers because of these temp agencies. They are earning bigger money than you when you are the one working your a_ _ off! Check all jobs placements in internet... those are placed by agencies monopolizing the internet as well as the classified ads in newspaper.

bad for the temporary employee good for the employer
the reason it's bad for the employee is becuase if it is someone looking for stability in a job a temp service cant offer that due to the fact that your assingment can be cancled at any moment. not to mention it takes away from other jobs that we could as americans just regularly apply for
it's good for the employer because it saves them cost on money and labor instead of doing lay off's and having millions of pissed off americans "when business is slow"
however if you don't need a full time job and work through a temp service just to get out of the house and contribute to the world, then the temp route is not a bad idea....but why not volunteer somewhere?

No - I managed a temp agency in downtown Boston (go Red Sox) and it was really good for a lot of the young girls who were single moms and young hispanic men who needed to get their foot in the door of a good company. I placed them at State Street Bank, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and GE among other good companies. They never would have gotten in the door if they didn't temp. We taught them computer skills, how to be prefessional, dress nice and they got paid. They were also offered the flexibility that temping allows them. I think it works for those in college, between jobs, looking to learn new skills, moms wanting to get back into the work force, retirees and I could go on!

No.
You're better off working for yourself than you are for someone else, but it can take a while to get established in your own business. Temp agencies let you earn a living while you're getting established.

I don't think so--just depends on who wants to work them. Those who are looking to move up quickly to a stable job with benefits, don't look at temp work. Those who don't care and are content with it, I guess they benefit the most from it. I wouldn't do it again, unless I couldn't find anything else.

I'd say they fill a vital role for employer and employee alike. Any particular reason why this question popped into your mind?

No. They can get you a lot of short term asssignments. Even a one day at $ 11.00 an hour is $ 11.00 an hour more than sitting at home.
