John Adams and John Quincy Adams.
John Adams worked with Ben Franklin on the Treaty of Paris which established the United States as a country with all the rights and privileges of France and England, no small feat for colonists.
John Quincy Adams served in Congress after his presidency, and even successfully defended the Africans from the Amistad.
Bush pater did nothing worthwhile, increased the deficit, and left after one term. Bush filis provoked a terrorist attack, started an endless war and left the country's morale for dead.

Adamses were #2 and #6, not #2 and #4. James Madison was #4.
Only other pair of direct descendant Presidents were William Henry Harrison (#9) and Benjamin Harrison (#23), where Benjamin was William's grandson. WHH never served long enough to know how good or bad he would have been, and Benjamin was below average.

John Adams and John Quincy Adams. They are from a very different era and faced very different national problems and issues so I feel they have each made certain contributions. I would say that the Bush's have faced alot more controversy and scandal than the Adams did.

John Adams (#2) and John Quincy Adams (#4). Both were ok, Adams excelled in foreign affairs, and Quincy Adams was a cold fish.
