The Boomers are the greediest group of SOBs ever to grace the face of the earth (and I don't care which side of the political fence they're on). Everything was given to them and they still wanted more and more and didn't care what anyone else had to suffer or had to pay for them to get it.
As one of the oldest Gen-Xers (it starts in 1965) I will be more than happy when the Boomer generation goes by the wayside. As for the political characterization of Gen-X, I believe it is more libertarian than anything else, really wanting to be left alone.

Actually I fear Gen X taking the reigns of the country. The Vietnam war split the nation because it was serious enough to split people based on their very core beliefs.
One side believes in duty, honor, curage and commitment to this great nation.
The other side cared more about themselves, their ideology and perhaps a rush of civic power they wielded....too bad they used it wrongly.
I mean lets looks at it carefully. The supposed 'peace movement' ended up in over 1 million people in Laos and southern Vietnam to be killed or put in concentration camps. Thus it ruined our reputation with our allies, and resulted in being more of a "death movement" for them. Of course some of the liberally minded think they were doing a good thing by saving American lives...yet they were the same people that spit on our troops and called them baby killers. So that kind of shoots down their credibility there. It didn't help out South Vietnam, It might have helped out the North but i'm not so intellectually crippled to thing that liberals actually cared about the North if they didn't care about the South. So, in the end....who did all these supposed peace loving liberal minded people serve ?....The only answer that fits is...Themselves.
They might have set out with good intentions, but good intentions never solved much in reality.
So, the divide is great, yes, but necessary....Because it is a theme that replays over and over again through history. Which side of the fence will people stand on is up to them, their values...(if they have any) or if they were raised right or not.
Some want to stand proud, be independant and willing to put themselves in harms way to help their fellow man. If someone doesn't want to be that willing or dedicated, no one is forcing them to, but I draw the line when the cowardly take cheap shots at these fine examples of hero's and try to take them apart or soil their repuation...all because they can't deal with the shame in their own life of being selfish, unfit, non-committed, or un-patriotic.
Why I fear the next generations is they seem to be blurring the lines, coming together, too politically correct, too accepting without stipulating standards, not distinguishing themselves as different or principled. Of course, i'm not saying all fall into this mass of vagueness. But enough...especially the ones running for political offices, or weild real power in the world.

It seems to me there are lots of self-centered young people today. So, it won't make any difference - other than you will only have yourselves to blame, not others.

As long as we Gen-Xers can stick to our Reagan conservative roots and undo all the hippie liberal damage done to the country, we should do well.
