OK, I am now 8 months pregnant. I went and had a bowel movement yesterday and strained. I KNOW you shouldn't strain, but I had no choice, I was cramping and had to get it out so I could pick my daughter up from the bus...anyways, later on I lifted something heavy and since then I have a massive hemriod. It's about the size of a small grape and it hurts sooo very badly. I started using Tucks wipes, taking baths every few hours and I used a suppository a little while ago. So my question is, if I keep doing everything i'm supposed to, how long before I get relief from this God awful pain?

It's not the vaginal birth that causes it, it's the weight of the baby. Most women get them during pregnancy, before ever giving birth. Anyway, once you have them, they are there to stay unless you have them surgically removed. Not to mean it will always bother you, but they will always be there. Try some Preparation H creme, it really helps. A hint, though, you may want to wrap your finger in some plastic wrap before applying it, it really stinks, like fish oil (it has shark oil in it) and the smell is really hard to get off your fingers.

Use tucks, Preparation H, and lots of warm baths. It will start to ease in a day or two. But don't be surprised in labor makes them worse. Take is as easy as possible.

You should start to feel some relief in a day or so. Try sitting on a pillow to ease the pain when you sit.

Honey, sorry to say but it may get worse. Here's why. Many women who give birth vaginally have gotten hemorrhoids, or their hemorrhoids have gotten worse after giving birth. You may want to ask your doctor for some numbing hemorrhoid wipes. That sounds painful, I hope you feel better soon!

Preparation H makes wipes that are safe to use. Also, get Metamucil's Fiber-Sure. It is a tasteless, ordorless powder that disolves in many drinks or foods. I asked my doctor about it and he said it was safe to use. Also, drink your water.

Ask your Dr. for some help. It might be from the weight of the baby, you may always have it.
