Hey geniuses... I've read the Books... UNSC is not the Military branch, it's the World Government, dummies... He's part of the UNSC Space Navy while there are also the UNSC Marines too...

Actually he's UNSC (United Nation's Space Command)
a fictional military branch in the Halo universe. So they can pretty much do what they want.

umm, there's the space navy and the marines... so the rankings are a mixture of both.....if you did notice the ranking below general is admiral.....I don't remember seeing admirals in the army....
plus since each branch has their own rankings.... the rankings in Halo 3 are the "Spartan service branch" which has nothing to do with the navy, marines, army, coast guard, salvation army or anything else you want to pull out of your butt
