first of all, the 1997 Honda Civic in the US has an extended emissions warranty for up to 14 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first that would provide for the free replacement of the manifold and catalytic converter on that car. So if you have under 150,000 miles, take the car to a Honda dealer and they will replace it at no charge under the warranty regardless of whether or not you are the original owner (the warranty applies to the car, not to the owner).

If you have over 150,000 and you are in California there are no aftermarket options for replacement converters. You must use the OEM part. The catalytic converter on that car is part of the exhaust manifold and is not available separately. Only Honda dealers handle them as there is no secondary distribution channel.

If you're outside of California, try searching EBAY as some dealers post their parts inventory on the Ebay automotive site.

Hope that helps
