i'm making my halloween costume and i need to get the velcro onto my fleece costume. Would school glue work? or should i wait till i can get fabric glue? then again, i could always stich it on... but that would take longer. i need to get my costume's progress going faster, because there is not a whole lot of time left. what should i do?

I can tell you right now, gluing anything to fleece will not work in the long run, nor even short term. Velcro will just fall off. And PLEASE, don't use HOT glue. Fleece melts.

My advice: Staple the Velcro on...or staple yourself into your costume. It will last longer. Just be careful not to poke yourself with the points.

I sew-- but I'm also realistic. I know lots of people who reach for a stapler when all else fails.

I'm doubtful about the Elmers. Tacky glue or hot glue might work, but i'm thinking the velcro is going to pull itself off of the fleece the first or second time you try to separate the two pieces. Can you test it on some scraps first? Someone at a sewing store might have good advice. If you want to insure it won't pull off, I'd sew it. Even if you just tack it down in a few places, it's a safer bet than glue.

If it just needs to stay on short term, use fabric glue (or use extra strength self adhesive velcro, my favorite shortcut!). elmers won't work, it dries stiff. if you are really crunched for time, maybe you could substitute safety pins for the velcro? anyway, the basic answer to the question is No, elmer's won't work. good luck, have fun!

If Peanut butter removes gum from hair, maybe it will remove glue too. Just try it and see. Good Luck.
