California education, environmental standards, health care and laws are generally different from the rest of the USA. Furthermore, for every dollar that California citizens pay in taxes they only get $.08 in return. I think it makes more sense for California to seek autonomy and succeed from the rest of the USA. I would like to read what others have to say...

Jake, you re-emphasize my point... Californians lose $.92 on every dollar to taxes. If the support for the devastation caused by the fires is not significant the end does not justify the means in my opinion.

I fail to see what succeeding from the Union would do ? Lets face it, the fires going on are just an example. San Diego country has no helicopters, Orange county is whoa-fully under equipt. Now perhaps there's lots of people helping others out...but your talking about a predominantly conservative base....YOU KNOW...the base that preaches you don't need big Government in your life, that you can be independant and do for yourself. Well, they are proving it, but the local Government has failed in providing adequate fire and life safety for the citizens.
There are those out there that think its the Federal Government's join to rush in protect or help them when its not.
You succeed from the Unioin, you can say Goodbye to all that nice Federal aid, and you realyl have right to brag about California.
The public Education system sucks. Too many people think its a matter of just throwing more tax dollars at it which hasn't been proven correct. Other states have spent far less per capita on students and obtained much higher scores. The democrats have been in control far too long messing up legislation.....example...how about Grey Davis's illegal car tax.
What about the fact that 2 and 1/2 million armed forces exist, only 9% are in Iraq yet Boxer is crying about being depleted of equipment. The demccrats haven't steered California well but won't step asside to give someone else a try. I'm not going to list 10 years + of their medelling, mishaps and BS. I personally expect standards from my polititions. I expect them to do the work to the people, I expect them to know what they are talking about.
And this trend of messing things up can go all the way back and beyond the supposed peace march's against Vietnam starting at Berkley.
So with the Political correctness, the enviormental whacko's, the lying democrats, failing schools and illegal immigration problem......the list goes on and on.....how could CA survive all by itself.

If California was it's own country it would be the 5th largest economy in the world, to tell you the truth I'm surprised we still get $0.08. It would be interesting to see how losing California would shift the elections though.

I live in California but don't want to retire here, to damn expensive and to much liberalism.

with the all the fires, it would be a good time to leave the union, so the rest of states won't have give that millions in aid the president promised today.
