It seems like he is the only Republican canidate that genuinely shares all of their views. It is quite surprising that Romney is getting any support from Christian Conservatives. He seems to have just recently adopted their views -- how in the world does he not escape from being called a "flipflopper"?

Even though Huckabee is polling about 5-10% in most places, it seems like if Evangelical Christians (who seem to make up 30-40% of the Republican base) threw their support behind Huckabee, either he would win the nomination, or he would very likely be picked as VP candidate.

I do not actually believe I have heard this expressed before. So if I am getting these optinions from som sort of "group think" it must be telepathic =) Seriously, if you can give me a source of where a democrat has said this, I would be interested.

The reason I asked is that I had heard nes stories that said Dobson would not support a candidate that did not share the values of Focus on the Family. Instead of telling who he would not support, I thought it would have been more productive to say who he would support?

I actually think Ron Paul is as far away from Dobson's values as Guilinani is, though I can certainly understand why some people support Ron Paul.

Perhaps, but with the exception of one debate, Huckabee's performance has been lackluster at best. He's neither an accomplished speaker, a sharp debater, nor terribly clear in his plans should he come to office. He is singularly unimpressive. Only Duncan Hunter has performed worse, at least in my opinion.

Were I an evangelical Christian--and I am not, so I don't pretend to speak for them--I would look elsewhere.

Cheers.

I don't think a lot of people are paying much attention to who all the Republican candidates are. The media mainly covers:

Guiliani and Romney - because they are ahead in the polls

Fred Thompson - because he is supposed to be one of the top candidates

John McCain - because he has good name recognition and was further ahead awhile back

Tom Tancredo - because he is the leading advocate for getting tough on illegal immigration - a hot button topic

Ron Paul - because he is interesting, principled, and very different from everybody else

The media pretty much ignores everybody else. That means Huckabee gets ignored. A lot of people don't know much about Huckabee.

Huckabee is a Christian Conservative, but a Fiscal liberal. That concerns them, that and his poor fundraising.

And since Ron Paul has nearly the same values (and longer time to prove them), they wont "block support" Huckabee.

You sound like a democrat with that group think.
