Both are sentence fragments. A slight revision fixes things:

I was thinking to myself, "Oh well, everything else in this restaurant is different."

I think it depends on whether you are digressing or this was thought at the same time. This could make a difference but not as you wrote without quotes at all . correct me if i'm wrong .Did the person think the entire sentence in the past or was part of it in the present .some people talk to themselves in this manner . just wondering. I'm far from a grammar hound.

the 1st sentence is right simply by fact "one," your subject, is singular. the 2d sentence is right additionally, however the syntax is unusual. it would study greater suited if it mentioned, "I do this activity forcefully by utilising him."
